Dedicated Shopify developers

Hire dedicated Shopify developers

Add a Shopify developer to your team by the month, full-time or part-time. They work on your theme, apps, checkout extensions and integrations inside your tools and your Git repository, with working hours agreed around your time zone. You keep ownership of the store, the code and every account.

01/fit

When a dedicated developer makes sense

  1. Your Shopify backlog never empties: theme fixes, new sections, app tweaks and tracking changes every week.

  2. You run an agency and need extra Shopify capacity without hiring in-house.

  3. Platform deadlines keep landing on your team: Scripts to Functions, Thank you page tracking, legacy customer accounts, API versions.

  4. Freelancers have come and gone, and each one left code nobody else understands.

  5. You need the same person every week, who knows your store, your apps and your data.

02/compare

Why a dedicated developer, not an agency or a freelancer?

Option01Project agencyHonest trade-offsGood for a defined build with design, development and QA in one contract. Less suited to a steady stream of small tasks, and you often wait for the next free slot.
Option02FreelancerHonest trade-offsFlexible and often the cheapest for a single task. The risk is continuity: availability changes, knowledge leaves with the person, and there is nobody to review their code.
Option03Dedicated offshore developerHonest trade-offsThe same developer every week at a monthly rate, backed by a team for review and cover. You need clear priorities, agreed overlap hours and access rules, which we set up with you.
Option04In-house hireHonest trade-offsFull control and deep product knowledge. It takes the longest to hire, costs the most, and one person rarely covers themes, apps, checkout and integrations alike.
03/engagement

A dedicated Shopify developer

A monthly engagement for merchants and agencies that need ongoing Shopify work, not a one-off project.

What they work on

  • Theme development: Online Store 2.0 sections, blocks, metafields and performance fixes
  • Custom apps built in the Dev Dashboard, and upkeep of existing apps
  • Checkout UI extensions, Shopify Functions and Customer Events pixels
  • Integrations with ERP, warehouse, CRM and accounting systems on the GraphQL Admin API
  • Store migrations, data imports and redirects
  • Platform changes and API version upgrades before they break the store

How we work with you

  • Full-time or part-time, with daily overlap hours agreed at the start
  • Work tracked in your project tool, code in your Git repository
  • Changes built on a development store or an unpublished theme, then reviewed before release
  • A written update every week: what shipped, what's next, what's blocked

Monthly rates depend on the hours and skills you need, so we share them on a short call, not on this page.

04/safeguards

How we keep an offshore engagement safe

Most problems with outsourced Shopify work come from access, ownership and communication. We fix those on day one.

  1. 01

Access through Shopify collaborator requests or staff accounts with only the permissions the work needs, removed when the engagement ends

  2. 02

You stay the store owner. We never ask for your owner login or payment details

  3. 03

Every change goes through version control, so there is a history of who changed what and why

  4. 04

A second developer on our team reviews code before it reaches your live theme or app

  5. 05

Documentation for anything custom, so the work is never locked to one person

05/process

How it works

  1. 01

    Brief

You tell us about your store, the work ahead and your time zone. We confirm the skills and hours needed.

  2. 02

    Meet the developer

We share profiles of developers who fit, and you interview them before anything starts.

  3. 03

    Onboard

We set up access, repository, tools and communication channels, then start with a small first task.

  4. 04

    Review monthly

Each month we review what shipped and adjust hours or priorities. You can scale up or down.

Hiring a Shopify developer: questions

A developer who works on your Shopify store or apps for an agreed number of hours every month, rather than on a single fixed-scope project. You set the priorities, and the same person builds up knowledge of your store over time.

Both work. Part-time suits a steady backlog of theme changes and fixes. Full-time suits stores with ongoing app, checkout or integration work, and agencies adding capacity. You can change the hours from one month to the next.

Our team works on Pakistan Standard Time (UTC+5, no daylight saving). A 9:00 start in London is 13:00 or 14:00 for us, Berlin 12:00 or 13:00, and New York 18:00 or 19:00, depending on daylight saving. For Australia and New Zealand our morning overlaps your afternoon: 14:00 in Sydney is 8:00 or 9:00 for us. We agree the daily overlap hours with you before work starts.

You do. Code lives in your Git repository and on your store, and custom apps are created under your organisation in the Shopify Dev Dashboard, so nothing depends on our accounts.

Usually a collaborator or staff account with the permissions for the task, plus access to your repository and project tool. We never need your store owner login or payment details.

It depends on the hours and the mix of skills, such as theme work versus apps and integrations. We share monthly rates on a short call once we understand the work. For what drives Shopify development cost in general, see our guide on Shopify developer cost drivers.

Yes. Agencies use a dedicated developer to add Shopify capacity for their own clients, working in the agency's tools and process.
