Jens Becher Sanitärtechnik case study: a WordPress website revamp for a Hamburg plumbing and heating business

Project Overview
Jens Becher Sanitärtechnik is a plumbing, heating and bathroom company in Hamburg-Bramfeld, trading under that name since 1986. Its team of qualified gas and water fitters plans and builds bathrooms, handles new builds and renovations, repairs and maintains installations, and runs a 24-hour emergency service all year round.
In 2023 we revamped its WordPress website so the company comes across online as the established local business it is: a short, clear menu for services, bathrooms and customer service, the office team on film, and the office and emergency numbers on every page.

The brief
Goal, problem and solution
The Goal
Build a professional online presence that shows the company's services and decades of expertise.
Make it easy for customers to find the right service and get in touch quickly, especially in an emergency.
Problem

The old website had no clear structure for the company's services. Customers struggled to find the right plumbing or heating service, the bathroom offer and the emergency number when they needed it.
Solution

We designed a clean, modern website in the company's green: six clear menu items, a page for each service area, a contact form, and the office number and 24-hour emergency line in the footer of every page.
UX approach
UX Approach: a plumbing website that gets customers to the right help fast
A customer-first approach focused on clarity, easy navigation and trust, helping visitors see what the company does and reach the right person quickly, whether they are planning a new bathroom or dealing with a burst pipe.

Six links, every service
The menu stays short: Über uns, Service, Bäder, Kundendienst, Partner and Kontakt. Service walks through planning, installation, new builds and renovation, and Kundendienst explains repairs and the emergency service.
The emergency line on every page
The footer carries the Bramfeld address, office phone, fax, email, opening hours and the Notdienst mobile number, so the 24-hour emergency service is one tap away wherever a visitor lands.
Trust before the first call
Über uns opens with a film of the office team and tells the company's story since 1986, Partner lists the firms it works with, and Kontakt adds a short form for questions that are not urgent.
Full Page View
Two pages of the company website from top to bottom: the home page with the “Über 30 Jahre” welcome, the bathroom and customer-service entry points and the footer with address, opening hours and the emergency number; then the Service page, which walks through planning, execution, new builds and full flat renovations.

Design System
A clean, trustworthy visual system taken from the company’s own wordmark: a calm off-white, the logo’s green and grey, and Lato throughout, so every service page, bathroom gallery and contact detail feels like the same company.
Jens Becher Sanitärtechnik, Sanitär, Heizung und Bäder in Hamburg-Bramfeld. Headings name each service plainly, from Planung and Ausführung to Neubau und Sanierung and Kundendienst, set in Lato so that long German words stay clear on a phone and calm on a large screen.
Contrast pairs, checked against WCAG 2.2
- Ink on Off White16.5:1AAA
- White on Primary Green5.1:1AA
- Green headings on Off White4.8:1AA
- Wordmark Grey on Off White3.9:1Large text only
Primary Green carries white text at 5.1:1, so buttons, the green footer bar and the green headings all pass AA. The wordmark grey reaches 3.9:1 on Off White and 4.1:1 with white: right for the logo, icons and large labels, not for body text; a deeper grey such as #6B6866 (5.5:1 on white) keeps the tone and passes.
Webguru website development FAQ
What plumbers, heating engineers and other trade businesses ask us before a website revamp, answered with what we did for Jens Becher Sanitärtechnik.
Ask us anythingYes. Jens Becher Sanitärtechnik has traded in Hamburg-Bramfeld since 1986, and the revamp kept it on WordPress while rebuilding the structure around six menu items: Über uns, Service, Bäder, Kundendienst, Partner and Kontakt. We keep content and URLs that still work and rebuild what customers struggle to find.
We put it in the footer that every page shares, next to the office phone, address and opening hours. On the Jens Becher site the 24-hour Notdienst mobile number sits there, so a customer with a burst pipe can reach the team from whichever page they land on.
By the question the customer arrives with. Service walks through planning, installation, new builds and renovation; Bäder shows finished bathrooms; Kundendienst covers repairs and the emergency service. Each area gets its own page and title, which also gives search engines a clear page for each service.
Yes. Über uns on the Jens Becher site opens with a film of the office team. For video we use a compressed file with a poster image and load it only when the section is reached, so the rest of the page stays quick on a phone.
Yes. We add a careers page with one entry per opening and a short way to apply, and mark each opening up as JobPosting structured data so it can appear in Google's job results. Your team can add and close openings in WordPress without calling us.
Maintenance is a separate plan a business can add at launch or later: WordPress core, theme and plugin updates, backups, security checks and small content changes such as new opening hours or job ads. We agree who owns updates before launch, so the site does not fall behind.
