Dr. Salman case study: a urology practice website for Norderstedt
Project Overview
Praxis Dr. Salman is the practice of Dr. Dr. med. Mahmoud Salman, a specialist in urology and andrology (Facharzt für Urologie & Andrologie) in Norderstedt, just north of Hamburg. The goal of the website is a professional, trustworthy presence online that makes the practice's broad range of urological and andrological services easy for patients to understand.
It presents everything from preventive check-ups (Vorsorge) and diagnostics to specialised treatments such as erectile dysfunction therapy, infertility care, shockwave therapy (ESWT) and EMSELLA® pelvic floor treatment, each explained in calm, factual language.

The brief
Goal, problem and solution
The Goal
Create a trustworthy, easy-to-navigate website for a urology practice (Urologie-Praxis) in Norderstedt near Hamburg that explains complex urological topics simply, highlights the practice’s specialized treatments and encourages patients to get in touch for a consultation.
Problem

Urology covers sensitive, complex topics, from prostate check-ups to fertility and incontinence, so patients found it hard to quickly understand their treatment options.
Solution

A clear, patient-focused website that organizes the practice’s services (Leistungen) and explains medical information in plain language for easier navigation.
UX approach
UX Approach: a patient-first website for a urology practice
A patient-first approach focused on clarity, easy navigation and trust, helping visitors quickly understand medical services and find the right treatment information without feeling overwhelmed.

Three links, one calm page
The menu has just three items, Leistungen, Arzt and Kontakt, and each jumps to its chapter on one long home page. On phones the same three links stay on screen instead of hiding behind a hamburger icon.
Address and phone before anything else
A slim blue bar at the very top of every page shows the practice address on Rathausallee in Norderstedt and its phone number, so the essentials are visible before the logo.
A badge for the pelvic-floor chapter
A round badge over the photo of the reception links straight to the home page chapter on the practice’s EMSELLA® pelvic-floor treatment chair.
Treatments in plain words
Erectile dysfunction (Potenzstörung), Peyronie’s disease, hormone deficits, NBI bladder imaging, fertility, shock-wave therapy (ESWT) and microbiology each get a block with a headline, a short everyday tagline and a photo from the practice, alternating left and right.
Check-ups at a glance
A highlighted box lists the self-pay screening services (IGeL-Leistungen), such as the PSA test and ultrasound of kidneys, bladder and prostate, right beside the explanation of statutory cancer screening (Vorsorge).
Contact without a search
The contact block shows a tap-to-call number with phone hours, opening hours (Sprechzeiten), a Google Maps link for directions and the e-mail address, while a “Termin online buchen” button for Doctolib stays pinned to the right edge on desktop.
Full Page View
The practice website is one long home page; the menu’s Leistungen, Arzt and Kontakt links jump to its chapters. Here it is from top to bottom in two halves: the practice and every treatment, then the EMSELLA® chapter, the practice gallery, Dr. Salman’s profile and the contact details.

Treatments, mapped for patients and search
Urology is a field people often search for quietly, in their own words. The services section of the site gathers everything the practice offers, from screening and men's health to fertility and pelvic-floor therapy, and names each treatment twice: in everyday German and by its medical term, with a short, matter-of-fact description. Patients from Norderstedt and Hamburg find the right topic quickly and arrive at the appointment informed.

Prevention & diagnostics
Vorsorge & Diagnostik
Screening check-ups, optional self-pay tests (IGeL-Leistungen) and the practice's own imaging and lab: the calm, routine side of urology that most visits begin with.
Treatments in this field
- Vorsorge- und Früherkennungsuntersuchung
- PSA-Test
- Ultraschall-Diagnostik
- Darmkrebs-Screening
- Nierencheck für Frauen
- Harnblasen-Untersuchung mit NBI-Technik
- Mikrobiologie
How the site explains complex treatments
The treatment blocks on the site follow the same four rules, so even sensitive topics read as calm, practical information.

Two names, one meaning
The everyday German term sits next to the medical one (Potenzstörung and erektile Dysfunktion, Penisverkrümmung and Induratio penis plastica), so patients recognise their own words and search engines see the clinical term.
A human line first
Each block opens with a short, warm tagline before any detail. On topics people find hard to raise, a friendly first sentence makes them more likely to read on.
Practical facts as lists
Practical details, such as how a visit runs and how long it takes, appear as short lists that can be scanned on a phone in a waiting room.
One clear next step
The page always leads to the same calm action: call the practice or book online through Doctolib. The phone number also stays in the top bar on every screen, so the next step is never hard to find.
Design System
A carefully crafted visual system that brings consistency, accessibility, and trust across every part of the healthcare experience.
Praxis Dr. Salman, Urologie & Andrologie in Norderstedt. Headings name each treatment in plain German and by its medical term, set in Roboto so that long words such as Früherkennungsuntersuchung stay legible on a small phone screen and calm on a large one.
Contrast pairs, checked against WCAG 2.2
- Navy on Off White12.2:1AAA
- White on Navy12.9:1AAA
- Deep teal on white5.8:1AA
- Teal on white3.2:1Large text only
Teal on white reaches only 3.2:1, which is enough for icons, large headings and decorative lines but not for body text. Small text and links therefore use a deeper teal (#26706F, 5.8:1), and text on teal swatches uses a near-black navy (#0B1A24, 5.5:1) instead of the brand navy (4.0:1).
Webguru website development FAQ
What doctors and practice managers ask us before a practice website, and how we handled it for Dr. Salman.
Ask us anythingWebguru is a Shopify, SaaS and AI engineering team that also builds websites for healthcare clients: this WordPress site for Dr. Salman's urology practice, the HNO in Eppendorf ENT practice site in Next.js and the Pflegebox Daheim order flow. UX, design, build, SEO and maintenance sit with one team, so nothing gets lost between agencies.
We describe what the practice offers and how a visit works, and leave out outcome promises, before-and-after claims and patient testimonials about treatment success, which the Heilmittelwerbegesetz (HWG) restricts. On the Dr. Salman site each treatment block pairs the everyday German term with the medical one, opens with a short calm line and ends with one next step. Final medical and legal review stays with the practice.
Yes. We link or embed the booking provider the practice already uses, such as Doctolib, and place it where patients look. On the Dr. Salman site every treatment block leads to the same two actions, call the practice or book online through Doctolib, and the phone number stays in the top bar on every screen.
WordPress suits a practice whose team wants to edit pages itself in a familiar editor, as on the Dr. Salman site. Next.js suits a site with many treatment pages, strict speed goals or custom features, as on the HNO in Eppendorf site, and it can still have an easy editor through a headless CMS. We explain the trade-offs before you decide.
We can, under a maintenance plan: WordPress core, theme and plugin updates, backups, security checks, uptime monitoring and small content changes such as new opening hours or a new treatment. A practice site that is not updated becomes a security and data protection risk, so we agree who owns updates before launch.
We build the Impressum and privacy policy (Datenschutzerklärung) pages into the site, with the texts supplied by the practice or its lawyer, and set up a cookie banner that asks before loading optional services such as maps or video. Booking runs on the booking provider, so patient data does not have to pass through the website.
Yes. Before the redesign we list the pages that bring visitors, keep their URLs or redirect them one to one, carry over titles and descriptions, and add local structured data with the address and opening hours. After launch we check Search Console for crawl errors and fix any missed redirect.
Yes. We design and build websites for medical practices, clinics and care services in Germany and beyond. Tell us about your practice and we will reply with a plan and an estimate.
